The Challenge
Many Indian farmers still rely on word-of-mouth for crop planning, weather updates, and market prices. Most existing apps are either too complex, not localized, or don’t provide actionable insights.
They lack trust, clarity, and most importantly, usability.
Process
User Discovery
We gathered insights through informal interviews and unmoderated testing with farmers from a teammate’s rural network. Key issues included complex UI, pricing confusion, and a lack of local context in existing apps.
Persona & Flow Mapping
Defined two key personas and built simplified flows around market tracking, crop selection, and daily decision-making.Wireframes to Visual Design
Started with lo-fi wireframes to test structure, then moved to high-fidelity mockups focused on clarity, minimalism, and local relevance.Rapid Feedback Cycles
Shared early mockups with real users. Their feedback led to reduced text, clearer icons, and streamlined interactions — especially on the dashboard and chatbot.
Solution
We built Kisan as a straightforward tool that helps farmers make daily decisions with ease. Key information like crop suggestions, market prices, and weather updates is shown clearly and in fewer steps. The interface was simplified through user feedback, and regional language support was added to improve accessibility. Every feature was designed to reduce friction and support real-world usage.
